Christ in casuals?

That they may also ascend: Marcus Cornish’s new bronze statue for Our Lady Immaculate and St Philip Neri RC Church in Uckfield, East Sussex, shows Jesus in billowing contemporary clothing, defying gravity, looking down at and reaching out to all who enter the church.
What do you think?

Bad art! Indeed, very bad art. I don't mind pictures or sculptures of our Lord in modern clothing, but it has to be really good. There is a small chapel on the university campus in Edmund, Oklahoma where the rededos shows a very modern Jesus inviting us to follow him. In it, our Lord looks like someone you would follow and that gladly.

This statue is something else. Is he dancing or what? Perhaps simply being blown away as traditional Anglicanism seems to be.

Wow - that's awful. What possesses people? Who draws that up and thinks "Wow, that looks great!"???
